New version and What's new
Spec
Agreed Oct 9 (#67). Installed apps keep the version they loaded until fully closed, and the iPhone has no pull-to-refresh for them. A bar says a new version is ready; a release with news names it, and after reloading a one-time card explains it. Text process: for each feature about to ship, Claude drafts the words and the designer decides the final message.
Most deploys: just the bar
A release with news
After reloading: What's new, once
Help: What's new, at the bottom
The bar
- Sits where toasts go: above the tab bar on phones, bottom of the window on wide screens. Same width rules as toasts.
- Stays until Reload or the app is closed. Never reloads on its own, and doesn't show while a form or dialog has unsaved typing.
- Plain text: "A new version of Adjustmint is ready." With news: "A new version is ready" plus one short line, "New: ...".
What's new card
- Shown once per release with news, after the reload. Coach mark on wide screens (the tour's component), bottom sheet on phones.
- Eyebrow "What's new", a title, one or two sentences. "Got it" closes it; a second button goes to the feature when there is one.
- Not shown to people who signed up after the release, or for features their plan can't use.
Past notes and words
- Every note is kept in a "What's new" section at the bottom of Help, newest first, with its month.
- Words follow DESIGN.md Words: "we", plain verbs, no em dashes. Claude drafts, the designer decides.
